Internationalisation: Everybody talks about it; we do it.

One year after the editorial “GC&P: a gate to India” let us review the situation.

Our Indian associate, GC&P India Pvt Ltd, is operating, according to the strategy defined in 2013, in two directions: business consulting and direct investments in strategic sectors.

As  business consultants, we support Italian small and medium companies willing to penetrate the Indian market, which has a very high potential, but is also particularly difficult. At the same time we work to spread Lean principles and methods in Indian companies. Very recently we have signed an agreement with our partner Mitkat Advisory Pvt Ltd with the objective to spread the Lean and Green methodology to Indian companies.

Our direct investments so far are concentrated on three sectors: real estate and home decor, environment, food & beverage. For each of these sectors we have launched a number of proprietary brands that will be a guarantee of the experience, style and design of Italian companies.

Real Estate and home decor

LiveInItalia is the name of the platform through which we propose home décor products and services to the great Indian constructors. India is experiencing a dramatic urban development and the demand for high level residences is rapidly increasing. LiveInItalia is designed for a refined clientele who can appreciate the quality and design of products made in Italy. Italian small and medium companies can join LiveINItalia and through it can have a privileged access to the Indian market.

Environment

Recently the Indian government has launched the project “Clean India by 2019”. Investments in this project will be very important thanks also to contributions granted by international institutions. At the same time the challenge will be enormous because at present there is no advanced system of refuse collection, infrastructures are totally inadequate and only 10% of the waters are treated. We have set up a consortium of Italian and Indian companies, Blue Sky, that can provide the expertise acquired in waste management, water treatment and smart city development in Northern Italy in the last thirty years.

Food & Beverage

The Food & Beverage sector is growing rapidly in India and is particularly interested in Italian cuisine and Italian products. Recently we have launched two brands: Tere de Vinegia, for the sale of wines made in Italy and Macchiato, a chain of Italian restaurants in franchising, that can in turn be an important showcase for Italian products.

One year after the launch of GC&P India we think we have already achieved some good results. We are fully aware that we are at the very beginning of a path that we hope will be a long and fruitful one.
